Tiny stainless steel ear seeds, no bigger than a pinhead, are placed and attached to the acupressure point on the ears, by means of a small adhesive pad and left for a period of time to enhance the healing process. This particular therapy is an adjunct to Reflexology.

Auriculotherapy began as auricular medicine in the 1950s, when French physician Paul Nogier happened on several people in a village that had cauterisation marks on their ears. Further investigation revealed that a village lay practitioner had cauterised a particular spot on people's ears to relieve sciatic pain. Dr. Nogier tried some cauterisations himself, which proved effective. Then tried some other less "barbaric" forms of stimulation and had similar success.
